It's a buzzing, bright and exciting part of Sydney that we now live in. It doesn't stop, day or night - already such a completely different cultural experience to the past two years which was a completely different cultural experience to ones before. Our street is lined with restaurants and cafes, traffic, bus stops, clothes boutiques, bookstores and arty shops and Dave knows he won't see me again for at least an hour if I volunteer to go get some milk! I'm looking forward to finding some favourite places.
As for the children, they have made themselves known and heard in the college playground, and are enjoying the chance to get to know some new friends to play with each day. We are, in short, looking forward to the joys and lessons that this very different few years of life will bring our way.
How has your January been?
I'd been wondering what had happened to you guys!!! Glad to hear your are doing all right. So you are living on campus now? Does that mean Canberra plans are not happening? Much love to you guys and hope to catch up soon!!!
ReplyDeleteOurs has been - frantic, yet relaxing; challenging and rewarding; loud and also quiet and full of so many great reminders about why we became parents. Lots of love from our kids, unsolicited "I love you Mum" "We've got the best Daddy" (that comment when P&P were in private conversation).
ReplyDeleteBodes well for the new year!
Enjoyed reading your update and hope that you continue to settle in well to your new home. January has been a busy month for us with tennis trips, Sydney for Caitlin, Mum, Emily, and Victoria; and Melbourne for Mum and Dad. We're lookng forward to hopefully a less travelled and quieter February, along with a new niece or nephew. The sooner the better we think.
ReplyDeleteHi Cath,
ReplyDeleteYes it is on. After a week I thought you might like to know that there are other people out here and we miss hearing what you have to say. It was SO nice to see you all in your new abode, though my legs were aching after 2 days of those stairs ... how are you holding up? We made it home from our trip so all in all a successful January.
Love to you all,
Frances.
Happy New Year to you, too--equally belated! I see your New Year has had a heavy emphasis on the New. Just popped in to say hello; May the process of acclimating to your new home be a gentle one. (Awfully special to receive a comment that sounds more like a greeting card than anything else, isn't it? Yes, I am banishing myself from the computer immediately.)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're enjoying life in college housing! Have you found any favourite places yet?
ReplyDeleteHere I was feeling that there was no one out there any more, and then I went into my blogger dashboard and found all these unmoderated comments, which had been going to the wrong address!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat!
Caitlin, yes we are living on campus. So far it has been really excellent. You'll have to come and visit the pulsing heart of Sydney here! Bethany, glad you now have that nephew - lots of cuddles on the way I'm sure.
Frances, we wished you were still here when we came back. The stairs are almost killing me. It amazes me how often I have to go up them because I forget something like a hair band. At least I am getting SOME exercise!
Jamie! Hello!! I was just telling a fellow blogger about you yesterday, that I felt I had a kindred spirit in Texas even though we don't say much to one another these days! Thank you for popping in - you've made my day.
Soph, I don't get out the front door as much as I'd like, but there are a few little stores on King that I love. I will never be short of a bookstore or a clothes store or an arty store, at least for the next few years! The playground has been the best thing so far - the kids are really loving their new friends and the outside time. How are you settling over there? Great to hear your news, btw!
